Claudine Barretto has filed a cyberlibel complaint against veteran showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin and vlogger Romel Chika over their alleged remarks about her.
On Wednesday, Oct. 21, the actress went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), accompanied by her lawyer, to file a cyber libel complaint against Fermin and Chika over their commentaries directed against her on their YouTube channel.
This comes days after Claudine took to social media to share a copy of the “Final Demand to Cease and Desist” letter sent by her legal counsel to Cristy and Romel on her social media accounts.
The actress captioned her post with: “Lawyer up”.
“This is a formal and final notice of demand that you CEASE AND DESIST from further harassing our client, and making untruthful, scandalous, and damaging remarks regarding her,” the letter stated.
In an interview with the press, Claudine spoke about her complaint against the showbiz commentators, stating, “Last straw na ‘to. Ilang taon na… Since last year hindi talaga niya ko tinatantanan. Ito na ‘yung last straw talaga. Hindi talaga s’ya tumitigil.”
“My children are very hurt. My fans are very hurt,” she added.
Barretto further insisted that she will not back out of the case even if Fermin, who has been the subject of multiple cyber libel cases before, apologizes.
“May consequences lahat ng bagay,” she said.
When asked about her reaction to the past complaints filed against Cristy by fellow celebrities, Claudine responded, “Walang-wala ‘yung mga complaints ni Bea Alonzo at tsaka Sharon Cuneta sa lahat ng mga pinagsasabi n’ya sa akin, sa pagkatao ko.”
Asked for her message to Fermin, Barretto said, “Happy Halloween!”
In Jojo Gabinete’s PEP report, Cristy reacted to the complaint, saying, “Sa anong dahilan naman daw? Subukan niya! Lahat nalang idedemanda niya? Dami niyang ginawang kalokohan na puwedeng lumabas kapag ginawa niya iyan.”
“Okay, see her in court na lang. Kaloka siya!” the veteran columnist added.
