Veteran actress Erlinda Villalobos has passed away at the age of 84, her family announced through her social media account on Sunday, Oct. 11.
“With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother Erlinda Villalobos. It’s never easy to say goodbye to someone who has been such a special part of our lives,” the family wrote in a statement.
“Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that she no longer have to suffer or feel any pain,” the post continued.
“Thank you, our Lola, for the love, memories, and moments we were blessed to share with you. You will always hold a special place in my heart, and your memory will forever live on in our family,” her family added.
Further details regarding Villalobos’ wake and funeral arrangements will be announced soon, according to the statement.
Erlinda is best known for her as the titular character in 2015 film “Manang Biring”. The animated comedy-drama feature directed by Carl Joseph Papa won Best Film at the 2015 Cinema One Originals, while Villalobos vied for the Best Actress nomination.
She also appeared in several television series, including “Ang Probinsyano,” “Batang Quiapo,” and “Lolong.”
Her most recent screen appearance was in “Patay Gutom,” an entry in the 2026 Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival, also directed by Papa.
