Content creator Mama Lulu shared her thoughts on parents who are not invited to their children’s weddings, saying that understanding and respecting their decisions are important as they grow into independent adults.
Mama Lulu, whose real name is Loreta Balgos, discussed the topic in an Instagram Reel uploaded by one of her children, Oliver, who asked her opinion on parents whose children choose not to invite them to their weddings.
Oliver asked.
Mama Lulu responded by emphasizing the importance of giving grown children the freedom to make their own decisions.
Kagaya din natin yan,” she continued.
Kailangan open-minded kayo,” she added.
Mama Lulu also acknowledged that there could be different reasons why some children choose not to invite their parents, particularly when their parents disapprove of their decision to get married.
Wala namang ibang rason,” she said.
“Eh bakit mo pakukumpedahin?
She explained that couples may simply want to have a peaceful and intimate wedding as they begin their married life.
So, in the future, kung gusto nilang magbati, magkaayos, ‘e ‘di, maganda ‘yun. For the meantime, yung kasal nila, gusto nila, kanila lang, tahimik.
She then shared the experience of one of her own children, who got married according to their wishes despite the parents being in different countries at the time.
Then, nagpakasal sa simbahan. Okay pa rin. Hanggang ngayon, maligaya sila. Nagkikita-kita kami,” she recalled.
For Mama Lulu, parents should recognize that raising their children also means preparing them to eventually make decisions for themselves.
“Understand the situation.
She also reminded fellow parents to set aside their pride and acknowledge that they, too, can make mistakes.
Understanding is the best. At hindi porket matanda tayo, hindi tayo maaaring magkamali. Period,” she concluded.
Mama Lulu’s remarks came amid recent news surrounding Olympic gymnast Carlos Yulo’s reported plans for an intimate wedding with his longtime girlfriend, Chloe San Jose.
San Jose appeared to agree with Mama Lulu’s perspective, leaving a supportive comment on the post.
“Much love Mama Lulu 🙏🏻🤍,” she wrote.
Another netizen also praised Mama Lulu for her stance, commenting, “Thank you for a very understanding point of view Mama Lulu. You the best.”
