Eight Filipino films are in the running to become the Philippines’ official entry to the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.
The lineup includes Carl Joseph Papa’s 58th, Jade Castro’s All the Things I Leave You (Patawid), Rafael Manuel’s Filipiñana, Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo’s I’mPerfect, Raymond Red’s Manila’s Finest, Jerrold Tarog’s Quezon, Lawrence Fajardo’s Silenced Nights, and Jun Robles Lana’s Sisa.
The films cover a pretty wide range, from historical dramas and political thrillers to stories about love, class, disability and survival. Several have also made the rounds internationally, with 58th, Filipiñana, Silenced Nights and Sisa earning festival recognition abroad.
The entries will now go through the Film Academy of the Philippines’ selection process, with a National Selection Committee weighing their artistic merit, cultural relevance and chances in the international awards race.
The Philippines’ official Oscar entry will be announced on September 4, 2026, during the opening ceremony of Philippine Film Industry Month.
