Megastar Sharon Cuneta reacted strongly after she and her husband, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, were accused of receiving kickbacks from anomalous flood control projects
In a social media post, Cuneta denied the accusations and expressed frustration over claims that she and Sen. Pangilinan had allegedly received suitcases filled with money linked to the flood control project scams, as alleged by 18 former bodyguards and alleged bagmen of expelled fugitive former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co.
A photo of the couple taken at an alleged gathering in Marawi was also shown as supposed proof that they were in contact with Co’s employees, fueling more controversy as it circulated online.
Cuneta and Pangilinan clarified that the image being shared was taken from a vlog documenting their past visit to Marawi, where they met local officials and expressed gratitude for their support for the senator.
“MGA SINUNGAAAALING!!!!!!! SOBRA TALAGA KAYO!!!!!” Cuneta wrote at the beginning of her post.
“I vlogged about this visit my family and I made to Marawi to thank the Governor, Mayor, and other officials and their families for their support for Kiko. Talaga ba, magbibigay kayo ng maleta sa amin SA MARAWI PA???!!! Ang kakapal ng mukha ninyo talaga sukdulan!!!” she said.
Cuneta also stressed that she and her family continue to work hard and earn everything through their own efforts.
“Eto nagte-taping pa ako ngayon. Nagbabanat pa rin ng buto at lumalaban nang patas, dahil lahat ng meron kami, PINAGHIHIRAPAN NAMIN!!! Hindi kami tulad ninyong mga sinungaling!!!” she added.
Meanwhile, Sen. Pangilinan earlier announced plans to pursue legal action against those linking him and his family to the flood control controversy.
“Wala ni katiting na basehan ang mga tangkang pagdungis sa aking pagkatao ng mga nagpa-presscon tungkol sa mga maletang kaugnay sa bilyon-bilyong pisong ninakaw sa kaban ng bayan,” he asserted in his post.
He added that those who involved his family in the issue would be held accountable, saying the accusations would not go unanswered in court.
“At dahil dinamay niyo pa ang pamilya ko, makakatikim kayo ng hindi pasaring, alegasyon, o palabas na kaso sa korte. Pananagutan ninyo ang paninirang ginagawa niyo,” Pangilinan declared.
