Ashley Ortega appeared to have a slip-of-the-tongue moment after reacting to ongoing romance rumors involving her ex-boyfriend, Mark Alcala, and Kathryn Bernardo.
During her guest appearance on the talk show Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the Kapuso actress was asked about her former beau’s rumored relationship with the Kapamilya star.
Reacting to the issue, Ashley admitted she was happy for the rumored pair and even praised Kathryn.
“Siyempre si Kathryn kasi, I idolize her as an actress. So parang, ‘Oh wow, ang suwerte naman ni Mark, nakakuha siya ng Kathryn Bernardo,’” said Ortega.
The actress then seemingly referred to the rumors as if they were already confirmed, adding, “I’m just happy for them kasi it’s been years na rin and finally, nakahanap na siya ng mabuting decent girl. So I’m happy for the both of them.”
Host Boy Abunda also asked Ashley whether she and Alcala remained friends following their breakup.
“Tito Boy, no, I don’t think we’re friends anymore kasi ever since nag-break kami, we never saw each other na, eh. And we never talked na rin,” she answered.
Despite no longer being in contact after their split, Ashley clarified that their breakup was not messy.
“I don’t think it was a bad breakup. It was mutual and I think, ’yun lang talaga, we just never bumped into each other,” she explained.
Ashley and Alcala were in a relationship from 2020 to 2022. The actress is currently dating fellow Kapuso actor Mavy Legaspi.
Meanwhile, Kathryn has yet to directly address rumors linking her to Alcala. She, however, recently fueled speculation after briefly responding to a question about her love life during a fan interaction.
When asked about her dating life, Kathryn reportedly had a lighthearted reaction, describing it as “okay naman.”
Kathryn was previously in a long-term relationship with actor Daniel Padilla before confirming their breakup in 2023 after nearly 11 years together.
