American rapper and songwriter Megan Thee Stallion broke the internet when she posted on Instagram Stories accusing her boyfriend, Dallas Mavericks basketball player Klay Thompson, of cheating on her.
The singer confirmed the split in a statement to PEOPLE and TMZ that same day, several months after the couple went public. “I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay,” she said.
“Trust, fidelity, and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”
In the Instagram story, she wrote about her decision to end it, claiming she was introduced to his family as if they were building a life together, only for him to later back out of the commitment.
Megan went on to share more candid details of their relationship, adding, “Holding you down through all your horrible mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season, now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous???”
Social media erupted, with fans criticizing Thompson for the alleged betrayal.
A new controversy emerged involving Seattle Storm player Lexie Brown, who was labeled the rumored “third party.”
She expressed disappointment in Thompson for not publicly denying the rumors despite knowing they were false, claiming she’s the only one who has spoken out.
Brown emphasized that she remains the only one who has outright denied any involvement in the situation, even though, according to her, Thompson, Megan, and those close to them are fully aware that the claims are false.
She added that the issue has escalated significantly, revealing that she has received “threats on my life,” while her family has also been targeted with “comments and threats from people” online.
Brown said the situation became so alarming that she “had to hire security to travel with me places,” admitting that it reached a point where she was “just scared for myself.”
Neither Thompson nor the Mavericks has issue a statement on the matter of the recent issue.
Megan and Thompson were first linked in July 2025 after the basketball player’s move to the Mavericks team. They went Instagram official soon after with courtside photos and family meet-ups.
The former couple made their red carpet debut at Megan’s inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York City on July 16, 2025, where she called him “the nicest person I’ve ever met.”
