Reel couple Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano surprised fans after revealing that their upcoming film “Tayo Sa Wakas” will be their final project together—for now.
The announcement was made on Monday, April 27, during their guest appearance on Bianca Gonzalez’s podcast “Paano Ba ‘To?”, where the pair reflected on their journey as the beloved pairing “DonBelle” and their personal growth.
When asked where “Tayo Sa Wakas” fits in their lives, Belle shared that the film explores themes of individuality and self-discovery, which mirrors their current situation. Without revealing plot details, she emphasized the importance of finding one’s identity beyond a relationship.
Pangilinan echoed this, noting that love should not come at the expense of self-growth.
“Kasi sometimes it’s not just falling in love with your partner, it’s also falling in love with yourself, and we forget that sometimes,” the actor lamented. “I think that’s one of the biggest things this film will showcase. You can’t forget about yourself… two incomplete people doesn’t make a whole, it could make it worse.”
Donny later revealed their decision that “Tayo Sa Wakas” will be their last project together “for now”.
“We’ve done so many projects throughout the years. Me and Belle decided that for this specific project, it will be our last DonBelle project for now,” he said.
The host’s surprise after the revelation prompted Mariano to clarify that the decision was “mutual”. According to the actress-singer, taking time apart professionally would allow them to grow individually and eventually return stronger.
“It was a mutual decision, and that’s why this project required so much growth for him and [me]. And the time apart I feel like would allow us to grow, actually find what we want, find who we are, and come back as better people,” she explained.
Despite initial fears, both Donny and Belle, who held hands after dropping the news, said they are choosing to support each other through this transition.
Pangilinan admitted that working on the film, while uncertain about their next collaboration, has been challenging but meaningful.
“Obviously it’s hard kasi we’re going through it sa shoot na ‘di namin alam kailan ang next time… but I’m glad we get to go through this together,” he said, adding that he remains proud of everything they have achieved since their breakthrough series, “He’s Into Her” in 2021.
Mariano, meanwhile, assured fans that their upcoming film would be a worthy send-off “for now”.
“It’s scary, yes, but exciting also, and knowing that, parang we’re really so dedicated in doing this project really, really well,” she said. “Now that we said this is our last for now, we really want to make it worth it for everyone. Right now, we are just really giving our best, everything.”
Donny and Belle have worked on several projects together, including “An Inconvenient Love”, “Love Is Color Blind”, “Can’t Buy Me Love”, and “How to Spot a Red Flag”.
Notably, the trailer for “Tayo Sa Wakas” appears to pay tribute to their past roles, weaving in scenes that evoke and revisit moments from their previous collaborations.
Outside of their pairing, Pangilinan starred in “GG: Good Game” and the series “Roja”, while Mariano took on solo roles in “Huling Sayaw”, “Click, Like, Share”, “Incognito”, and “Meet, Greet & Bye”.
“Tayo Sa Wakas” is set to premiere in cinemas on May 27, 2026.
