‘Wrong girl’: Viva artist Christine Li denies being woman beside Chavit Singson in viral photo

-

Viva artist Christine Li firmly denied claims linking her to business tycoon Chavit Singson, clarifying that she is not the woman seen beside him in a circulating online post.

The actress addressed the issue through an Instagram video, humorously captioned, “GIRLFRIEND NI CHAVIT?!?!!??!!!,” where she directly refuted the allegations.

Li explained that a misleading post, bearing the headline “Chavit Singson proud nang ipinakilala ang bagong girlfriend nito,” which sparked buzz after her photo was edited into the original image of the businessman with another woman.

“Minsan na lang nga ako mabalita, ganito pa!” she quipped at the start of her statement, before clarifying, “That’s not me.”

To further debunk the claim, Li showed the circulating video of Singson and the unidentified woman, pointing out that she was not the person, contrary to online assumptions.

“You got the wrong girl. That’s not me in the video, but they’re claiming that I am the ‘girlfriend’ of Chavit Singson,” she said.

The actress also emphasized that she has never met Singson in person and does not know him personally. However, she revealed that she reached out to one of his sons to seek help in addressing the issue, even sharing a screenshot of their conversation as proof.

Calling herself a “victim of fake news,” Li urged the public to be more vigilant with information coming from unverified online sources.

“It could hurt somebody’s reputation. It could hurt their career. It could hurt their mental health. So, please stop spreading misinformation about people, kasi not everything that you see on the internet is real, okay?”, she said.

Li also expressed how the controversy has taken a toll on her, admitting that it has affected her confidence in going out in public.

“I don’t wanna go out in public right now and people are gonna start laughing at me. Because of what they’ve seen on the internet, she shared. “I can’t even defend myself because it’s been posted anonymously. It’s so unfair.”

She went on to call for more responsible social media use, lamenting how platforms have become saturated with baseless gossip, “Nakaka-frustrate na palagi na lang tsismis. Wala nang substance. Innocent people are getting hurt.”

The actress concluded by revealing that she is now coordinating with her management and legal counsel to take action against those spreading false information about her.
