‘Nagkataon lang’: Lance Carr downplays viral serenade during pageant

Actor Lance Carr addressed his guest performance at a beauty pageant in La Union, which went viral for featuring strongly worded lyrics from a popular OPM love song.

The incident stemmed from Lance’s appearance at the coronation night of Miss City of San Fernando 2026, where he sang “Harana” by the iconic OPM band Parokya ni Edgar.

During the performance, Carr sang the line “Sino ba ’tong mukhang g*go” while assisting a candidate down the stage. The timing quickly drew attention from netizens, with clips of the moment circulating widely across social media and prompting mixed reactions.

In a recent interview, the former Pinoy Big Brother housemate admitted that he initially found the situation amusing due to the attention it garnered, but said the volume of reactions eventually became hurtful.

“Parang natuwa ako na madaming nakakita, pero it wasn’t intentional,” he explained. “It really wasn’t directed towards the candidate. Actually, ‘yung lyrics naman, it was referring to me.

He added that the moment was purely coincidental, as candidates were scheduled to descend the stage during that part of the program.

“Nagkataon lang sa flow ng program na bababa talaga ‘yung candidates, and I was there to help them go down. Siyempre, mataas ‘yung heels nila. Sumakto lang talaga ‘yung lyrics,” stressed Lance.

Carr shared that he chose not to immediately address the issue, viewing it at first as a lighthearted example of Pinoy humor online.

“I mean, it’s typical Filipino humor that you see on social media,” he reasoned. “I’m okay, as long as hindi ina-attack ‘yung candidate at hindi rin ako ina-attack. Sana lang hindi personalin pati ‘yung trabaho ko.”

The actor emphasized that his sole intention during the event was to entertain the audience, maintaining that there was no malice behind his actions.

“As long as I know within myself na I didn’t do anything wrong or malicious, confident ako na I don’t need to speak up about it. At the end of the day, I know my intentions were purely to entertain. Everything can be misinterpreted, so probably ingat na lang next time,” Lance said.

Carr expressed hope that the public would understand the incident as a harmless coincidence, appealing to netizens to refrain from making hurtful remarks, “Okay lang for laughs, pero sana hindi na maging personal.”
