Glimpses of Cebu and a taste of Filipino rum made surprise appearances in the episodes of the K-drama “Boyfriend on Demand,” starring Jisoo of BLACKPINK, alongside Seo In-guk and Lee Soo-hyuk.
Pinoy viewers were quick to spot a familiar setting in the series’ first episode, which featured a beach in Cebu City during a dreamy sequence.
In the scene, Jisoo’s character, Soo Mirae, imagines spending her “best summer” in the Philippines, basking on the beach with the country’s tourism slogan “Love the Philippines” seen behind her.
In a Facebook post, the Department of Tourism confirmed the scene was filmed at Shangri-La Mactan, Cebu, and that more “beautiful scenes” from Cebu will appear in upcoming episodes.
Some netizens also spotted scenes filmed at NUSTAR Hotel in Episode 2.
Another tropical backdrop that appeared in Episode 6 was Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort which later shared screenshots from the episode on social media showing the South Korean stars at the resort.
“Bluewater Maribago makes a special appearance in Episode 6 of the Netflix Originals series Boyfriend on Demand, starring Jisoo and Seo In-guk!” the resort wrote on Facebook. “We’re thrilled to see a piece of Cebu shining on screen in this Korean drama,” it added.
The episodes’ release also reminded fans that Jisoo was spotted filming in Cebu in February last year. A month later, she returned to the Philippines for the Manila stop of her solo fan tour, Lights Love Action.
Adding to the fans’ “Uy, Pilipins!” moment online was another detail in a separate episode where Seo In-guk’s character was also seen drinking a popular Filipino rum.
