Actor Alden Richards has been recognized as one of the Most Outstanding Individual Taxpayers by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
Richards was honored during the agency’s 2026 South Luzon Cluster Tax Campaign Kickoff in Calamba City, Laguna, last Friday, Feb 27.
According to the BIR, Richards expressed strong support for the agency’s campaign and emphasized the importance of transparency and timely compliance with tax obligations.
“Pinapakita natin ang support sa campaigns ng BIR by being transparent and paying the rightful taxes, especially pagbabayad sa tamang oras,” Richards said, as quoted in BIR’s official Facebook post.
“As public figures, kailangan mag-set tayo ng good example. It is our moral and legal obligation as Filipinos, and one way of helping the community through nation-building,” he added.
The BIR noted that Richards’ recognition highlights the “vital role of responsible taxpayers”, from business leaders to public figures, in promoting tax discipline and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
