Rising OPM singer-songwriter Rob Deniel reacted to comments after netizens noticed his resemblance to Kapamilya actor Paulo Avelino.

“Pogi, pogi. Idol ‘yun si Goyo! Nakakatuwa syempre Paulo Avelino ‘yun,” he said in smiles.

“Pero saan d’yan? Seven years! Si Dio!” he added referencing to Avelino’s character in 2017 film “I’m Drunk, I Love You.”

Rob also revealed that he wanted to try acting and hopes to work with Anne Curtis in a music video.

“Ako gusto ko ma-try mag-act. Ms. Anne Curtis, shoutout!” he said in jest.

During his #OnTheRise interview with The Philippine STAR, Rob got candid about his journey in the music industry. He said that his family played a vital role in discovering his love for music.

Sobrang laki ng factor ni daddy,” he said.

Rob said that it was in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic when he released his first song, “Ulap.”

‘Yung first song ko “Ulap.” Na-discover ako ng Viva,” he recalled.

Rob felt it was surreal that his once “hobby” of singing and playing instruments opened doors of opportunity for him.

“Totoo ba ‘to mga nangyari na ‘to? Inappreciate ko lang ‘yung nangyayari… Kahit lagi ko siyang pine-perform, nagugulat pa rin ako ‘pag kinakanta siya ng mga tao,” he said.

Adding, “Hindi ko iniisip talaga ‘yung pera. Nai-enjoy ko talaga tumugtog, nai-enjoy ko mag-perform. So ‘yun ‘yung nakikita ko talaga. Hindi talaga on the financial side.”

When asked about his lovelife, Rob has a short but straight answer.

“Ang relationship status ko, I’m doing good.

He recently concluded his first-ever solo concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last February 27, 2026.
