The 2026 Golden Globes celebrated a dazzling mix of cinematic and television achievements, honoring both seasoned veterans and rising stars across film, TV, and, for the first time, podcasts.
The prestigious awarding event took place in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 11 (PH Time) and was hosted by Nikki Glaser for the second consecutive year.
In the film categories, “Hamnet”, a poignant story about the family of English playwright William Shakespeare, won “Best Picture — Drama”. Jessie Buckley, who portrayed Shakespeare’s wife, Agnes Hathaway, also took home “Best Female Actor — Drama” for her compelling performance.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s dark comedy “One Battle After Another” emerged as the night’s biggest winner, securing four awards, including “Best Picture — Musical or Comedy”. Supporting performances were also recognized, with Teyana Taylor and Stellan Skarsgård winning “Best Supporting Female and Male Actor”, respectively.
Anderson himself was honored with both “Best Director” and “Best Screenplay”, cementing the film’s critical acclaim.
Ryan Coogler’s vampire retelling “Sinners” also made a strong showing, winning “Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement”. The film’s score, composed by Swedish musician Ludwig Göransson, earned “Best Score — Motion Picture”, highlighting its musical and emotional impact.
International and animated films were celebrated as well. Brazil’s neo-noir film “The Secret Agent” won “Best Non-English Language Motion Picture”, with its lead, Wagner Moura earning “Best Male Actor — Drama”.
The animated Netflix hit KPop Demon Hunters triumphed with “Best Animated Motion Picture” and also took home “Best Song — Motion Picture” for “Golden,” solidifying its status as a global sensation.
Other acting awards included Rose Byrne, who won “Best Female Actor — Musical/Comedy” for “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”, and Timothée Chalamet, who claimed Best Male Actor — Musical/Comedy for “Marty Supreme”.
Television also showcased standout winners. The thought-provoking limited series “Adolescence”, filmed entirely in a single continuous shot, won “Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Television Motion Picture”.
In a remarkable achievement, 16-year-old Owen Cooper was also recognized with “Best Supporting Male Actor” for his breakout performance in the series, alongside Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty, who earned “Best Male Actor” and “Best Supporting Female Actor”, respectively.
“The Studio” was named “Best Musical or Comedy Series”, while “The Pitt” won “Best Drama Series”.
The two awarded shows also took home individual TV acting honors for actors Seth Rogen winning “Best Male Actor — Musical/Comedy” for “The Studio”, and Noah Wyle earning “Best Male Actor — Drama” for “The Pitt”.
On to female TV performances, Jean Smart received “Best Female Actor — Musical/Comedy” for “Hacks”, Rhea Seehorn won “Best Female Actor — Drama” for “Pluribus”, while Michelle Williams received “Best Female Actor — Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture” for “Dying for Sex”.
For the first time, the Golden Globes recognized achievements in stand-up comedy and podcasting. Ricky Gervais won “Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television” for “Mortality”, and “Good Hang With Amy Poehler” was named “Best Podcast” of the year.
