‘Naluluha-luha na rin ako kasi sila tumatawa but hikbi’: Bride spots parents practicing their speech for the wedding

Bride Claudine Batas-Orias recalled the night before her wedding when she heard and spotted her parents practicing their speech on her special day.

“Nangyari siya the night before we got married. I requested my parents to sleep with me. I think nasa gitna pa nga nila ako noon. But anyway Before kami matulog, sabi ko, ‘Ma, Pa, maliligo na ako, ha?’  Narinig ko sila, before I closed the door sabi ni papa kay mama, ‘Love, ano ba ang sasabihin natin sa speech bukas sabi kasi ni ate, love ano eh, mag-prepare daw ng speechmay sasabihin daw.’ Sabi naman ‘nong mom ko, ‘‘Di ko rin alam love ano ba mag-practice ba tayo?’” she told The Philippine STAR.

In the now-viral video on social media, her parents Mommy Cynthia and Daddy Efren, were joking around on their speech at their daughter’s wedding.

“Ang daming parts pa actually nung video. Pero, ‘yun ‘yung part na realize ko, ay, shocks, ‘Magpapakasal na pala talaga ako.’ Kasi, they’re preparing to, parang, ina-accept na rin nila na unti-unti, magpapakasal na nga rin ‘yung unica hija,” she said.

“Kahit nakikinig ako dun sa may bandang CR, naluluha-luha na rin ako kasi sila tumatawa but at the same time, ‘yung hikbi. Natatawa rin ako kasi, magjo-joke tapos biglang seryoso,” Claudine added.

Claudine admitted that she was shocked when she heard her parents’ speech at the wedding.

“Akala ko naman hindi talaga nila itutuloy ‘yun as in, parang akala ko naman may sinulat talaga silang maiiyak ako on the day of the, kinabukasan, the wedding. Wala.  Talagang impromptu siya. Tapos coming from the heart talaga ang disposal speech nila for me,” Claudine said.

Adding, “Sinabi talaga ‘yun ng nanay at tatay ko. And all the guests were laughing. ‘Yung parents ko was like, ‘Kaya mo na ‘yan. Touch move ka. Iligaw mo muna lang.’ ‘Yung mga padulo na medyo nagsiseryoso rin ‘yung tatay at nanay ko, na sinasabi na nila na kahit ang mangyari, nandito lang kami lagi sa inyo. And wala silang kakampihan ‘pag nag-away kami, alam mo ‘yun? kasi pareho na kaming considered as anak.”

She was also entertained by the reaction of the netizens on her TikTok post that garnered more than 2.5 million views, as of this writing.

“’Ate, di naman ‘to parent speech, disposal speech ‘to.’ Halo-halo. Nakakatawa. But at the same time, may mga ibang comments din doon na talagang mata-touch ka rin na mari-realize mo na how blessed ako pagdating sa parents ko, sa family, because we were able to celebrate our big day, na nadoon ‘yung mga parents namin, mga kapatid, and all the loved ones,” she said.

Claudine looked back on the sacrifices of her parents just to raise her and her brother.

Mommy Cynthia left the country to work abroad just to provide a better life for their family while Daddy Efren dedicated his time and effort to raise them.

“It was hard because nasanay kami na dalawang parents ‘yung nasa bahay. So we have to be all in this together. Alagang-alaga talaga ako ng papa. So, ‘yun, alam nila na mahina ako ‘pagdating sa directions. So, ‘yun ‘yung ginawa nilang topic [sa wedding speech],” she shared.

When asked if she has a message to the public, Claudine was quick to give some advice, “If there are times na feeling n’yo nagkulang sa inyo ‘yung magulang n’yo, always remember na it is also their first time in this lifetime na naging parents sila. Lahat tayo dadaan sa phase na kailangan nating matuto at some point and we just have to understand.”
