Carla Abellana addressed actor Janus Del Prado’s joke about her wedding cake after he compared it to something meant for a wake.
Janus made the remarks on social media, where he posted photos of the cake and wrote, “Cake! Ba’t mo kami iniwan! Huhu!,” and followed it up with, “Sisiw na lang kulang.”
In the comments, he continued poking fun, saying, “Yung CAKE ang inorder mo pero WAKE ang ibinigay.”
The actor joked that the cake’s long shape and the flowers surrounding it made it resemble a casket. He also remarked in Facebook post: “Till death do us part ata daw meaning niyan. Yung bulaklak talaga sa harap yung kumumpleto eh.”
This prompted Carla to comment on his post. The actress responded calmly, saying, “Masarap naman at fully edible. Pati guests nag-enjoy. Para sa amin maganda siya at yun ang importante.”
Some netizens pointed out that the cake follows a current trend known as a slab cake, which features a long, minimalist design.
Netizens were divided, as some found the joke funny while others said it was disrespectful and uncalled for at a wedding.
Carla recently exchanged “I do’s” with her non-showbiz partner, Dr. Reginald Santos, in an intimate wedding ceremony held on December 27.
