As 2025 comes to a close, Google’s Year in Search reveals the trends and topics that shaped the online habits of Filipinos.
At the top of the list is Gemini AI, reflecting both the tool’s popularity and the growing use of AI in daily life, from schoolwork to creative projects.
Major news events also drove heavy search activity, with Halalan 2025 landing at #2 and earthquake related queries remaining high due to a series of strong quakes throughout the year.
Entertainment and gaming remained major drivers of online interest. “Squid Game” surged again following its final season, while the Roblox hit Grow a Garden secured the #3 spot thanks to its massive youth following.
Filipino athletes and artists also dominated searches. Tennis star Alex Eala topped the Female Personalities list and ranked #4 in Sports, while Manny Pacquiao continued to capture attention at #2 in Sports.
In music, Earl Agustin’s “Tibok” emerged as the most searched song, with top searched male Filipino artist Dionela’s “Marilag” being second, outshining even global favorites like “Golden” from K Pop Demon Hunters.
Streaming platforms, especially Netflix, took over the Shows and Series category, mirroring the Philippines’ rapidly expanding online media consumption.
According to this year’s e Conomy Report, the country remains one of the region’s fastest growing digital content markets with a 16 percent year on year increase.
