Former Senate President and Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile, 101, is currently confined in the intensive care unit (ICU) of an undisclosed hospital due to pneumonia, with “slim chances of surviving.”
Senator Jinggoy Estrada shared the news about Enrile’s condition during the Senate’s plenary session on Tuesday afternoon.
“I have just received a very, very sad information that our former colleague, former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, is currently in the intensive care unit of an undisclosed hospital, suffering from pneumonia,” Estrada said.
He added, “I heard from a very reliable source that he has slim chances of surviving.”
The Senate, led by Senator Joel Villanueva, then offered a short prayer for Enrile.
