Jake Cuenca has confirmed his split with Chie Filomeno, hinting that there was no formal breakup between them.

The actor finally put an end to speculations surrounding their relationship, revealing that his romance with the actress has already ended.

“That chapter of my life is over now,” Jake said during a media conference for his upcoming film with Baron Geisler, The Delivery Rider.

While he made no direct mention of Chie, Jake said he still has respect for her and wishes her well as he moves on.

“To be quite honest with you, I can at least say that I really loved that person deeply. For me, I respect that person until today. I’m taking the time to process everything and accept everything,” he said.

He added, “Kapag mahal mo naman talaga ang isang tao, you wish them all the happiness in the world. You want them to be happy, you want them to be loved as well.”

When asked if it was a bad breakup, Jake clarified, “There wasn’t a breakup. There was no breakup.”

“But that chapter is over now, and I have to accept that. Hindi wala lang ‘yun. That was incredibly important to me,” said the actor, who was in a relationship with Chie for more than two years.

Breakup rumors surfaced after fans noticed that the two had unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Meanwhile, Chie earlier released a statement addressing the rumors and her alleged new romance with Cebuano businessman Matthew Lhuillier.

“I may be a public figure, but I am not public property. I ask that my private life remain private,” Chie said, urging the public to refrain from making speculations about her personal life.
