Meghan Markle’s dad not trapped in Cebu after 6.9 quake

Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle’s estranged father Thomas Markle Sr. denied claims by his daughter Samantha Markle that he was trapped in his Cebu apartment during the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu on Sept. 30, 2025.

Samantha had posted on X (Twitter) that Thomas was stuck on the 19th floor, blaming Meghan and Prince Harry for allegedly neglecting him.

“My father is stuck on the 19th floor of a building in the Philippines after a massive earthquake and he can’t walk and he is trapped. Shame on my evil fucking sister forever putting our father in that position. I hope she is cursed,” she wrote on X.

“Shame on Harry and Meghan. May they be damned… he gave her everything and this is how she repays him,” she added in another post.

However, in an interview with TMZ on Oct. 1, Thomas Sr. clarified he was safe and was comfortably resting in his hotel.

“I’m currently sitting on the couch in my hotel room, with my feet kicked up and watching Charlie Chan movies. I’m quite comfortable,” Thomas Sr. was quoted as saying in the TMZ report.

“The epicenter was 100 miles from here,” he added.

He also mentioned he hadn’t spoken with Samantha in a long time, casting doubt on her claims.

Samantha later slammed TMZ and the Daily Mail for portraying her as dishonest, maintaining that her father and his companion had indeed sent her those messages.

She then shared supposed text exchanges where Thomas said he was trapped and couldn’t get out due to his inability to walk down the stairs.

She also raised concerns about building safety codes in the Philippines.

TMZ also noted that Thomas Sr. has yet to reconnect with his daughter Meghan, who reportedly severed ties with him in 2018 after discovering he had staged paparazzi photos.
