Tributes from American political leaders and even local stars poured in following the death of conservative commentator and political activist Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, September 11.
Kirk, the CEO and co-founder of the youth conservative group Turning Point USA, was delivering remarks at the university’s Sorensen Center courtyard when the shooting occurred.
Videos on social media showed him speaking under a white tent marked with slogans “The American Comeback” and “Prove Me Wrong,” before a single shot rang out. Kirk was struck in the neck as stunned spectators screamed and ran.
US President Donald Trump confirmed the news through Truth Social writing: “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.”
Trump also extended condolences to Kirk’s wife, Erika Frantzve, and their two young children. “Melania and my sympathies go to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!,” he added.

Trump’s son Donald, described Kirk as more than a friend: “Charlie wasn’t just a friend— he was like a little brother to me— and to millions of people around the world. He was a true inspiration.”
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel called the shooting “horrible” and “monstrous,” saying: “On behalf of my family, we send love to the Kirks and to all the children, parents, and innocents who fall victim to senseless violence.”
Former US President Barack Obama also condemned the killing in a statement on X: “We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot Charlie Kirk, but place it in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.”
We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.

Former US Vice President Kamala Harris likewise expressed dismay, stressing that political violence must be rejected. Doug and I send our prayers to Charlie Kirk and his family. Let be clear: Political violence has no place in America. I condemn this act, and we all must work together to ensure this does not lead to more violence.”
Hollywood star Chris Pratt also shared his prayers, “Praying for Charlie Kirk right now, for his wife and young children, for our country. We need God’s grace. God help us.”
Former US President Joe Biden echoed calls for unity against violence. “There is no place in our country for this kind of violence. It must end now,” he wrote on X, adding that he and former First Lady Jill Biden are “praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones.”
Kirk leaves behind his wife Erika, a 3-year-old daughter, and a 15-month-old son.
Meanwhile, Cheska Kramer, Gerald Anderson, Matteo Guidicelli, Enrique Gil, Anthony Pangilinan, Mavy Legaspi, Jessa Zaragosa and Hayden Kho, are among the local celebrities who took to social media to mourn and condemn the passing of Kirk.

Meanwhile, in a social media post, Gary Valenciano shared that he first came across Charlie Kirk while scrolling through Instagram, and what struck him most was “the courage to share the truth of God’s word.”
He reflected, “But the Truth can sometimes hurt…but it always sets captives free. Charlie knew this and I believe that’s why he was passionate in letting listeners know about the faithful, unfathomable, unconditional, and sacrificial love that Jesus has always had even for the most sinful of individuals.”
Gary V acknowledged that although many disagreed with Kirk’s controversial views on certain issues, even his critics condemned the act of violence against him. “He wasn’t following a feeling, he was obedient to his calling. So much so that even some of those who may not have agreed with him, condemn what was done to him.”
He also addressed those who celebrated Kirk’s death: “And to the shameless who celebrate his death, I celebrate the hope that he helped bring to the countless that have had their questions answered, their wounded hearts healed, their weary souls restored, and their crushed spirit revived.”
In closing, Gary V left a heartfelt message: “Run now and stay in the embrace of Jesus my brother Charlie. Savor the smile on the face of the King of kings…upon you (praying hands emoji).”
