Klea Pineda and Janella Salvador teased about a possible intimate scene in their upcoming sapphic film “Open Endings” during the press conference for the 21st Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival on September 3 at EDSA Shangri-La Mall.
During an interview, they were asked if they shot a kissing scene for the film.
To which Klea Pineda playfully answered, “secret.”
Janella, who will star alongside Klea, also quipped, “Kami? Abangan na lang,” hinting that audiences will have to watch the film to find out.
Both actresses shared they were open to doing intimate scenes if the role called for it. “Of course. Oo naman. Kaya naman kami naging actors kasi dapat open kami sa mga ganong klaseng roles. Kung hinihingi sa scene, why not?” said Klea.
Janella added that having an intimacy coordinator on set helped them feel comfortable during sensitive scenes. “We had an intimacy coordinator on set. Para comfy kami sa lahat. And na-appreciate namin ‘yon.”
“Open Endings,” directed by Nigel Santos is a sapphic film that follows the story of four queer women who are “exes-turned best friends” whose relationship is put to a test after one makes an impulsive, life-changing decision.
The cast features Janella as “Charlie,” Klea as “Kit,” along with Jasmine Curtis-Smith who will play as “Hannah,” and OPM singer Leanne Mamonong as “Mihan.”
Even months before its official release, it has already gathered a lot of support, with many queer women eager to see a story that reflects their own experiences on the big screen.
The film is one of the 10 finalists in the full-length category of Cinemalaya 2025, running from October 3 to 12 at Shangri-La Plaza Cinemas.
