Netflix’s latest animated hit movie “KPop Demon Hunters” has officially become the second most-watched film on the platform ever since its release last June 20.
According to Netflix’s official fan website Tudum, it is also the highest-viewed animated film ever on the site.
The rhythmic animation, which follows fictional K-pop girl group HUNTR/X as they battle demons disguised as a rival boy band the Saja Boys, has accumulated over 184.6 million views globally, based on Netflix’s Top 10 Global Movies of all time.
Its continued dominance with its ratings since its debut positions it to potentially out-rate Red Notice which is the most-watched movie with 230.9 million views.
The film’s success extends far beyond streaming numbers. Its breakout hit “Golden” by HUNTR/X just topped the Billboard Hot 100, making it the first fictional girl group to hit No. 1. spot. The soundtrack, featuring vocals by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI, has generated over 3 billion streams and multiple chart-topping tracks.
Other standout songs include Saja Boys’ fan-favorite “Your Idol,” and “Soda Pop,” “How It’s Done,” “What It Sounds Like,” and “Takedown” by HUNTR/X also dominate charts across the world, making KPop Demon Hunters have one of the best soundtracks in history.
To celebrate this milestone, this coming August 23 and 24, fans can catch KPop Demon Hunters: A Sing-Along Event in selected theaters across the US and Canada.
