Park Bom of K-pop sensation 2NE1 is taking a break from their upcoming group activities to focus on her health.
On Wednesday, August 6, her agency D-NATION Entertainment announced on its official social media pages that Bom will not be joining the group’s upcoming schedules following “medical advice” to take sufficient rest.
The statement read, as translated by Soompi: “We regret to inform you that Park Bom will not be able to participate in 2NE1’s upcoming activities. As many fans have been eagerly supporting 2NE1’s full-group activities, it is with a heavy heart that we share this news.
“Following medical advice to prioritize rest and stability, we reached this difficult decision after thorough discussion,” it explained.
The agency urged their fans to continued their warm support and encouragement for the singer, as well as for her fellow members who will continue as a group and fill the gap left in her absence.
In the previous months, Bom also missed some of 2NE1’s recent performances, which included the Head in the Clouds Festival in the U.S., the UTO Fest in Thailand, and the Waterbomb Festival in South Korea, due to unspecified health concerns and personal reasons.
Over the weekend, however, she was able to perform alongside her bandmates in Seoul at a football match held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.
Last year, the four members of the iconic quartet, CL, Minzy, Sandara Park, and Bom, reunited for their “Welcome Back” global tour in celebration of their 15th anniversary, which included Manila as one of its Asian legs.
In November, the girl group held a two-day concert at the Mall of Asia Arena. On their first night, Bom missed some performances but managed to return and complete the show. However, on the second night, she could not finish her performance due to health concerns.
