South Korean actor Song Young Kyu dead at 52 — report

Korean actor Song Young Kyu, best known for his role as Chief Choi in the hit film “Extreme Job,” has passed away at the age of 52.

According to a report from Soompi, authorities at the Yongin Dongbu Police Stationconfirmed that Song was found deceased inside a car located in a residential complex in Yongin, Seoul on Monday morning, August 4 (Korean time).

He was reportedly discovered by an acquaintance who immediately notified the police. Investigators stated that there were no signs of foul play at the scene and no note was found.

Authorities are currently examining the exact circumstances surrounding his death and are in the process of questioning family members. They are also considering an autopsy to determine the cause.

The actor had previously made headlines for a drunk driving incident on June 19, where he was caught operating a vehicle under the influence for near his home in Yongin. The incident led to his referral to the prosecution.

Nearly a month later, Song voluntarily stepped down from his role in the play “Shakespeare in Love.” This was followed by upcoming films “The Defects” and “The Winning Try” announcing their decision to minimize or remove his scenes.
