South Korean artist Koo Jun Yup has been reportedly visiting the grave of his late wife, Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, every day, with witnesses describing his presence as both touching and heartbreaking.
According to reports by Taiwanese and Korean media, DJ Koo has been visiting Barbie grave in Chin Pao San Cemetery where the late actress was laid back in May, even during rainy days, often seen alone or looking through memories of his deceased wife on his tablet.
Witnesses also noted his physical transformation, saying he appeared to have lost a significant amount of weight since the actress’ passing.
Eyewitnesses and a netizen reportedly shared their accounts of seeing Koo spending long hours at Barbie’s grave, often alone and looking somber.
A viral photo showed him sitting silently at the grave site, prompting the uploader to call him “the most affectionate man” and express hope that he heals from his grief.
In a report by Yahoo News Singapore, Koo was reportedly planning to purchase a residence in Jinshan district near Hsu’s resting place.
While the real estate agency reportedly in talks with the musician declined to comment on the matter, Barbie’s mother acknowledged Koo’s deep love for her daughter, saying, “Koo Jun Yup truly loves Barbie.”
Barbie, best known for her role as Shan Cai in the phenomenal TV series “Meteor Garden” series passed away last February at the age of 48 while on a family trip to Japan due to influenza-induced pneumonia.
Hsu was previously married with ex-husband Wang Xiaofei whom she shares two children with. She eventually rekindled her romance with Koo and married in 2022, which the couple were just days away from celebrating its third anniversary when Barbie passed away.
Following her death, Koo expressed his grief publicly, saying, “I am going through an indescribable time of sorrow and pain, as if the very foundations of my world are crumbling,” as roughly translated to English. “I have neither the strength nor the will to say anything.”
