The CEO of American tech company Astronomer, Andy Byron has officially stepped down from his post after his viral cozy moments with a colleague triggered an investigation into their alleged illicit relationship.
This comes after Byron and his company’s human resources chief Kristin Cabor were caught sharing intimate moments at Coldplay’s concert that resulted to their suspension from the company as part of a formal investigation into their relationship now under public scrutiny.
In a statement posted on LinkedIn on Sunday, July 20, Astronomer announced that Byron had tendered his resignation, which the company’s board of directors has since accepted.
“As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met,” Astonomer stated.
In place of Byron, the New York-based company will search for his replacement as the chief executive while co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy takes over as interim CEO.
Amidst Byron’s resignation, DeJoy was seen liking a LinkedIn post from Zachary Hensley, Vice President of technology and operations at Astronomer, where the latter admitted “laughing at the memes” related to Byron’s concert incident.

Meanwhile, Byron’s wife appears to have responded to the controversy by removing her married name from her Facebook profile and subsequently deactivating her account.
