A now-viral photo of an ordinary-looking bedroom took a disturbing turn after it was linked to a man who posed as a woman, lured men into doing intimate acts and secretly filmed these encounters.
The man behind the viral footage, a 38-year-old from Nanjing, China, has been identified as Jiao, widely known online as “Red Uncle” or “Sister Hong.” He was arrested on July 6 for allegedly filming and profiting from sexual encounters with hundreds of unsuspecting male partners.
According to South China Morning Post, Jiao posed as a married woman on dating apps to lure men into his apartment, offering free sexual favors in exchange for small gifts like cooking oil, milk, fruits, or household appliances.
The crossdresser wore heavy makeup, long wigs, and women’s clothing—often appearing in videos with a mask and a wig with bangs.
Jiao, dressed as a woman, then proceeded to secretly recorded his encounters using a hidden camera in his home. The footage was then uploaded to a private online group, where access was sold for a membership fee of 150 yuan (around P1,000).
While, the suspect claimed to have slept with as many as 1,691 men, authorities denied the estimate but did not provide an exact number.
Some of the victims eventually recognized themselves in the leaked videos and reported the incident to authorities, prompting an investigation that led to his arrest.
Jiao reportedly gained the nickname Red Uncle after some of the videos were leaked by group members onto other platforms, causing them to go viral not only in China but also internationally, including in the Philippines.
While some Pinoy netizens poked fun at the incident—many turning the appearance of Jiao’s apartment into a meme—others voiced concern for the men who were unknowingly recorded in the explicit videos with many of the clips clearly showing their faces and revealing their identities.
