Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition Big Winner Mika Salamanca has chosen to donate her entire P1 million cash prize to Duyan Ni Maria Children’s Home, an orphanage based in Pampanga.
The young actress’ act of kindness was first confirmed by her Kapuso talent agency, Sparkle, after sharing photos of Mika visiting a community of elderly residents.
“BIG WINNER with a BIG HEART ❤️🔥 After donating her entire P1M prize to ‘Duyan ni Maria’ orphanage, PBB Celebrity Collab Edition Big Winner Mika Salamanca continued her outreach by visiting a community of elderly residents to extend her gratitude and compassion,” Sparkle wrote.
In an interview with GMA Network, Mika revealed that becoming the Big Winner wasn’t originally part of her goal upon entering the PBB house.
“To be honest po, wala naman po talaga sa list ko gawin sa Bahay ni Kuya ang pagiging Big Winner,” the young actress shared.
“Pero in my head, if a miracle happens and manalo dahil sa taong bayan, I want to give the winnings kasi for me to feel like I actually deserve it, I want to give it back to the people who put me here in the first place.”
She added, “That’s what I think a Big Winner should do.”
When asked why she and her duo partner Brent Manalo decided to support Duyan Ni Maria, Mika explained that both of them are proud Kapampangans and were moved by the home’s mission.
“Una sa lahat, kami po ni Brent ay parehas Kapampangan and based po si Duyan ni Maria in Pampanga.”
Salamanca also emphasized the importance of education which she and Brent strongly value.
“What me and Brent really value is education, and we see that Duyan Ni Maria makes sure the children under their care receive a level of education na makakatulong sa kanila in the future,” she said.
Apart from her donation to the orphanage, Mika also recently visited a local community for the elderly, continuing her personal mission to spread kindness and give back after her PBB journey.
Mika and Brent, also known as BreKa, ended the latest season of PBB, Celebrity Collab Edition, as the first-ever Big Winning Duos.
