The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025 officially kicks off with the announcement of its first four official entries, unveiled during the Grand Launch of the festival’s 55th edition, themed “A New Era for Philippine Cinema.”
Headlining this year’s initial lineup are major stars including Nadine Lustre, Vice Ganda, Piolo Pascual, and Ivana Alawi, setting high expectations for this year’s festivities.
Among the first four entries is “Call Me Mother,” a much-anticipated collaboration between Nadine Lustre and Vice Ganda, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jun Robles Lana. Also in the lineup is “Reconnect,” featuring Gerald Anderson, Zoren Legaspi, Carmina Villarroel, Gloria Diaz, and Alexa Miro under the direction of Jade Castro.
Piolo Pascual leads the cast of “Manila’s Finest,” directed by Rae Red, while horror fans can look forward to “Shake, Rattle and Roll: Evil Origins,” the latest installment in the iconic Filipino horror anthology starring Ivana Alawi, Fyang Smith, Ysabel Ortega, Carla Abellana, Janice De Belen, Francine Diaz, Richard Gutierrez, Seth Fedelin, Dustin Yu, and more.
The Grand Launch was attended by Kapamilya Big 4 housemates Brent Manalo, River Joseph, Esnyr Ranollo, and Ralph De Leon from Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition.
The final four official entries will be announced on September 30.
