Veteran entertainment columnist and talent manager Lolit has passed away. She was 78 years old.

The late columnist’s passing was announced through a family statement: “Our beloved Manay Lolit Solis has peacefully joined her Creator last July 3, 2025.

“Manay Lolit leaves behind a loving family and many friends who will always cherish her memory.

“We remember Manay Lolit as a feisty and staunch loyal supporter, manager and friend.

“We love you our dearest Manay, you will forever be in our hearts.

“Rest well now in the loving embrace of our Lord.”

Solis first revealed she has acute kidney infection in 2023, and has been undergoing dialysis at the FEU-NRMF Medical Center in Novaliches, Quezon City since 2022.

At the start of 2023, Solis revealed having her “biggest health scare” when she suffered a mild stroke after her dialysis session.

The late columnist had been updating her fans and followers about her condition through her Instagram posts but announced her departure from the platform earlier this year, saying she is considering full retirement from writing.

In  the post, Solis said she was feeling mentally tired and want to savor her “semi-retired status” without pressure to be publicly transparent.

Expressing feelings of emptiness and a sense of detachment from current events, Solis said it’s time to step back while she still enjoys life.

In an interview with Pep back in 2022, Solis shared that she often prays to St. Therese for a painless death when her time comes.

“Kung sakaling talagang darating ang oras ko. Yun lang talaga. Either hindi na ako magising, or basta wala lang akong pain na maramdaman.

“Kasi, baka pag masyadong painful ang maramdaman ko, magkaroon pa ako ng tampo kay God, di ba?

“Ayokong magkarun ng ganun. Kasi, God was so good to me. Kaya ang gusto, yun lang. Painless ano lang talaga,” the late columnist was quoted as saying.

Solis began as a police-beat reporter in the 1970s before transitioning to showbiz reporting at the Philippine Star and Pilipino STAR Ngayon.

She gained prominence as a talk show host on popular programs such as Startalk, which she co-hosted from 1995 until its end in 2015, earning her awards including Best Female Showbiz Talk Show Host.

She also appeared on shows like Tweetbiz Insiders (2009–2011) and CelebriTV (2015–2016).
