Several Pinoy celebrities have rallied behind a project offering physical and emotional healing to those living with visible scars.
Launched under the name “The Scar Project”, the campaign was introduced by Belo Medical Group on June 10, which brought together a star-studded lineup of advocates and ambassadors such as Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, Kapuso star Alden Richards, celebrity couple Mateo Guidicelli and Sarah Geronimo, as well as Donny Pangilinan, Iza Calzado, Bianca Umali, Isabelle Daza, Julia Barretto, and Korina Sanchez.
According to The Scar Project’s official website, the initiative seeks to find seven individuals willing to share the personal stories behind their scars—whether from accidents, surgery, abuse, or self-harm.
Selected participants will receive “free, personalized scar treatment plans” from Belo’s expert medical team, supporting both their physical recovery and emotional healing. Their journeys will be shared on the campaign’s website and social media channels to inspire others and spread a message of hope.
Among the stories shared during the launch was that of actor Piolo Pascual’s personal driver, Rissan Mueslos, who suffered a serious facial injury during the pandemic.
With the help of his doctor, Mueslos was able to retain his facial features in six months of treatment journey involving both physical healing and emotional support.
In a media statement, Belo founder Dr. Vicki Belo expressed strong belief for her advocacy, saying, “We have been preparing for this for a long time. It’s difficult to treat scars, but it’s even harder if you also carry the pain in your emotions. That’s why we are here — not just to treat, but to accompany you on your healing journey.”
Her husband, Dr. Hayden Kho,added, “This is for those who see reminders of the past every day. We want to help them regain their self-confidence.”
In a report by PEP.ph, Dr.Kho expressed his hopes to reveal the seven chosen participants on Belo Medical Group’s upcoming 35th anniversary on August 8.
Applications are now open for The Scar Project. Interested participants may submit their stories on the campaign’s official website and social media pages for more details
