ALAMAT Jao inspires people to be loud and proud this Pride Month —and fans are here for it!

More and more celebrities and influencers are growing comfortable showing support for the LGBTQ+ community—and ALAMAT’s Jao is one of the latest.

The Kapampangan P-pop idol kicked off Pride Month 2025 by uploading a TikTok using the trending sound: “I’m part of the LGBTQ community, and this is my best friend Valentina—she’s an ally.”

The video quickly made waves among casual followers, though many weren’t exactly surprised. Longtime fans of the group (affectionately called Magiliw) joked that Jao “comes out every week,” thanks to his playful and cheeky responses on social media.

Support for the young artist has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans praising not just his courage, but also the joy and humor he brings to what many still see as a sensitive topic in a conservative country.

In a livestream from the group’s pre-debut days, he once replied, “Duh, bakit hindi?” (“Duh, why not?”) when asked if they support the LGBTQ+ community.

Jao is no stranger to encouraging fans to be their authentic selves, once saying, “You won’t be able to reach your full potential if you box yourself in with gender stereotypes.”

While Jao’s latest post may have gone viral for its humor, his openness adds another layer to ALAMAT’s boundary-breaking identity as a group that celebrates diversity—not just in language, but in lived experience.

Known for their hit songs “Maharani,” “Day & Night,” and “Sa Panaginip Na Lang,” ALAMAT is a six-member P-pop group that debuted in 2021. Composed of members from different regions in the Philippines—Taneo, Mo, Jao, Tomas, R-ji, and Alas—they continue to champion Filipino identity and culture through their music. The group is set to release their third studio album, Destino, in 2025.
