Nag-open up ang OPM singer-songwriter na si JK Labajo patungkol sa kanyang experience sa paghahanap sa kanyang ama.
Sa interview ni Karen Davila kay JK, ibinahagi ng singer na hindi niya umano na-meet ang kanyang ama mula noong siya’y ipinanganak.
“I don’t really know him,” wika ni JK.
Ayon kay JK, nagdesisyon siyang muling hanapin ang kanyang ama noong taong 2021.
Kwento ng singer, ginamit niya ang social media upang maging tool sa paghahanap sa kanyang ama.
“This was [during the] pandemic… ‘Why don’t I try to look for my dad on a more public scale?’ Since we have a following online, we have like the social media presence, and this and that,” saad niya.
“I remember posting about it sa Instagram, Instagram stories. ’Hey, this is me. Hi fans. Nga pala, I’m looking for my dad, here’s the only thing I know, here’s a picture of him, wanna look for him,’” pagbabahagi niya.
“And then this guy, from Pampanga, his son followed me online. Ping and I got deep into this whole investigation Ping was able to find where my dad worked, he was able to find the co-workers of my dad to confirm, and he was able to find my dad’s number,” kwento pa ng singer.
Matapos nilang mahanap ang number ng kanyang ama, nag-decide umano si JK na mag-send ng message sa WhatsApp.
“So I messaged him on WhatsApp. ’Hello, my name is Juan Karlos… I’m the son of Maylinda Labajo. Just wanted to message you, I have a lot of questions I wanna ask… I’m not reaching out for any kind of financial support, but I also just want to let you know that my mom passed [away] like back in 2013 ‘cause of cancer. Just in case you didn’t know.’ Parang ganun lang, more of like you know, hi lang,” wika niya.
Pagbabahagi ni JK, ilang oras matapos matapos ma-seen ng kanyang ama ang kanyang message ay blinock na siya nito.
“Few hours later, it was seen. Little bit after that, I was blocked on WhatsApp… It felt like the world fell upon me. It really did,” wika nito.
“I tried reaching out a little bit more after that. I tried calling, but wala. Tried emailing and [the] email didn’t get sent,” pagpapatuloy pa ng singer.
Sa kabila ng kanyang napagdadaanan, nananatili ang positive outlook ni JK sa buhay.
“It’s okay. All of these bad things that we go through in life, eventually, are some things that we just when we look back into, we just laugh about. Right?” wika niya.
Kaugnay nito, matatandaan na pumanaw naman ang ina ni JK na si Maylinda Labajo noong taong 2013.
