Kathryn Bernardo’s rumored childhood crush, Kenneth Hizon, couldn’t help but feel kilig over being remembered by the actress from their early school memories together.
Following Kathryn’s confession on an episode of Pilipinas Got Talent about her “first-ever” crush, a mysterious and mestizo boy whom she named “Kenneth”, fans quickly took to the internet to track down the identity of the “lucky” guy mentioned.
It didn’t take long before netizens found a certain Kenneth Hizon, a name that began trending online, and was indeed the boy in question. An old photo of a young Kathryn with Kenneth also resurfaced which quickly went viral across social media platforms.
ABS-CBN News reached out to Kenneth, now a 30-year-old doctor based in their hometown of Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, who confirmed in the interview that he and Kathryn were classmates in grade school.
“Siyempre nagulat ako. Nung una, hindi ko talaga alam, but since my friends were tagging me after that PGT clip ni Kathryn, nagulat na ako. So inisip ko, mag-reminisce ako, ako ba ‘yun? I’m not sure,” he reacted to being mentioned by the Kapamilya star.
“We were classmates before from nursery until, hindi ko lang maalala kung hanggang Grade 1 or Grade 2. But yes, we were classmates before,” Kenneth added.
He also confirmed that the now-viral childhood photo was indeed taken during a school activity. Though surprised by the unexpected attention, Kenneth admitted that he felt “kilig” over being remembered by Kathryn.
“Siyempre, kinilig ako… Hindi lang ako sigurado pero [ang] napansin ko sa kanya before, hindi niya talaga ako pinapansin. Hindi ko alam kung bakit siya gano’n,” Kenneth remarked about Kathryn admission about being shy towards him.
When asked to describe how he remembered the young Kathryn, Kenneth had nothing but kind words, “’Pag nakita mo kasi siya, makikita mo talaga na bright kid siya. Tapos masayahin siya, and siyempre maganda.”
Kenneth also shared that he and Kathryn have not been in touch since their grade school days but expressed hope for a possible reunion with her in the future.
“Hi Kathryn, I hope you are doing well. If your busy time would allow us, I hope we can catch up,” ABS-CBN News quoted Hizon’s message to Bernardo.
Meanwhile, Kathryn recently shared an update about her current relationship status amidst being hounded by rumors romantically linking her to a politician.
