From crisis to comeback: Maxie to hold free show after production fallout

-

In a turn of events that shook the local drag scene, the highly anticipated second day of Maxieverse — a solo concert series headlined by Dragrace Superstar Maxie Andreison — has officially been cancelled. Originally slated for April 5, the cancellation was announced by Maxie’s management on March 31, citing production issues and unmet obligations from the show’s producer, Beyond and Co. (formerly known as Beyond Limits).

“Please know that it was a difficult decision and was made with utmost consideration not only for Maxie, but for every stakeholder and ticketholder,” the official statement read. “However, those who make unfavorable actions (and inactions) must be held accountable.”

The statement also made it clear that Ervylle Abarintos, executive producer of Beyond and Co., is legally bound to refund all ticket holders for Maxieverse Day 2, and that legal steps are now being taken to protect Maxie, her team, and the affected community.

“This isn’t what I dreamed of—but this is what’s right.”

In a personal message to fans, Maxie poured her heart out.

“Hindi ito ang pinangarap ko, lalong hindi ito ang ginusto ko,” she wrote. “Masakit po para sa akin na i-cancel ang Day 2 ng Maxieverse. Isang bagay na matagal kong pinangarap, pinaghirapan, at hinintay nating lahat. Pero kailangan ko pong gawin ito—hindi dahil sumuko ako, kundi dahil ito ang tama.”

Maxie explained that the decision to cancel was not made solely for her own sake, but for the entire team behind the scenes—stylists, musicians, dancers, suppliers, and fellow performers—who had all given their time and talent in good faith. She emphasized that it is her duty to protect their welfare, especially in a situation that was no longer fair or tenable.

“Sana ang mga taong pumapasok sa industriyang ito ay pumapasok nang may respeto at pagmamahal sa sining na aming pinaglaban at patuloy na pinaglalaban.”

Drag community rallies behind Maxie

In a strong show of unity, drag fans and drag artists across the country and the region have expressed public support for Maxie. International Drag Icon Pangina Heels confirmed that Beyond and Co. has a troubling track record of unpaid obligations and joined the call for accountability.

Locally, a wave of queens spoke out—including Precious Paula Nicole, Minty Fresh, Versex, Lady Morgana, and Deja (Drag Den Philippines Season 2 winner)—all announcing they will no longer work with Beyond and Co. moving forward.

“That trust has been broken—especially for Maxie, who has been deeply affected,” wrote Precious. “Moving forward, I choose to work only with people who uphold respect and fairness for performers.”

The collective outrage has sparked renewed conversations around artist protection, fair labor practices in entertainment, and holding producers accountable for their commitments.

A new show of strength

Despite the setback, Maxie is choosing to channel her heartbreak into something hopeful.

In the same message, she announced plans for a free event on April 5, exclusively for all Maxieverse Day 2 ticket holders. The goal: to still deliver on her promise of a world-class drag show, on her own terms.

“Ito po ang magpapatunay na ang pagtindig sa tama ang magtatagumpay sa huli. Magkikita po tayong lahat sa April 5.”

As legal processes continue and the drag community finds its voice louder than ever, Maxie isn’t just surviving this storm—she’s building something bigger in its wake.

Stay tuned for the official announcement of Maxie’s free event in the coming days. Because as Maxie said best: this isn’t the end of Maxieverse. The universe just got bigger.
