‘What if I told you that it’s stolen?’: Lola Amour calls out unauthorized use of songs in campaign jingles

OPM band Lola Amour has issued a statement addressing the unauthorized use of their songs in political campaign jingles for the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, the eight-piece band expressed their concern, writing: “Madami na naman daw gumagamit ng mga kanta namin para sa mga campaign jingles. Please note that all of those are used WITHOUT our consent.”

Adding a witty remark referencing their song “Fallen,” they said, “What if I told you that it’s stolen?”

Reports have surfaced online about their hit song “Raining in Manila” being used as a jingle by an unidentified candidate.

Responding in the comment section, the group reaffirmed their stance: “We will never endorse a candidate we don’t believe in or ‘di namin alam yung platform.”

Just a few days ago, OPM rap artist Omar Baliw made headlines after filing a criminal complaint against detained pastor Apollo Quiboloy for allegedly using his songs “K&B” and “ricorada” without permission in his 2025 political campaign events. Omar claimed this violated Republic Act 8923, specifically sections on copyright and moral rights.

In a previous interview of Philstar.com at a local music event, a few OPM artists had mixed reactions to their songs being used in political jingles, with Maki (Dilaw, Namumula) and Al James (Pa-umaga, Ngayong Gabi, PSG) expressing reluctance, while Over October (Ikot, Sandali Lang) was open to it under certain conditions.
