Sherwin Calumpang Tuna, widely known as DJ Love who popularized the Budots dance music genre, has been hospitalized due to a critical heart condition.

The news was shared by his manager Jorge Wieneke V, also known as DJ obese.dogma777, through social media posts.

Wieneke revealed that DJ Love has been in a public hospital in Davao for over three weeks, undergoing multiple medical tests and consultations with multiple doctors. He has now been clinically diagnosed with heart failure and urgently requires specialized medical care and surgery to survive.

“For the past three weeks and counting, Sherwin has been hospitalized in a public hospital in Davao, undergoing test after test, consulting five different doctors, yet we remained in a frustrating limbo—until now. Sherwin has been clinically diagnosed with heart failure. His condition is critical, and he urgently needs specialized medical care and surgery to survive. Time is running out,” the artist revealed DJ Love’s condition.

In his plea for assistance, Wieneke highlighted DJ Love’s contributions to the Philippine electronic music scene whose work has brought joy to many.

“Sherwin has given so much to our community—as a DJ, artist, choreographer, and pioneer of the Budots genre. His music has made us dance, laugh, and celebrate life. Now, it’s our turn to come together and help him fight for his own,” DJ Love’s manager appealed.

To ensure DJ Love receives the necessary medical treatment, a fundraiser has been launched, with a target of ₱1.2 million. The funds will cover his surgery, hospital expenses, medications, and post-treatment care.

“We’re raising ₱1.2 million to move Sherwin out of the public hospital and into a facility where he can receive immediate and prioritized medical attention. These funds will cover his heart surgery, hospital expenses, medications, and post-treatment care. He needs this to survive,” Wieneke wrote.

The donation campaign is being hosted on GoGetFunding, with supporters urged to contribute and spread the word.

“If you’ve ever shared a dance floor with him, been moved by his music, or simply believe in supporting the people who shape our scene—please help. Every donation, share, and show of support makes a difference,” he added.

Wieneke also noted that DJ Love’s birthday is on April 1, and the best gift the community can give him is the chance to recover and continue his passion for music.

“Let’s get DJ Love back on his feet. Please donate, share, and spread the word. Thank you all so much,” his message concluded.

DJ Love is best known for his viral tracks such as Tiw Tiw, Tag Singko, and other Budots remixes of popular local songs. He released an album titled “Budots World Reloaded” in August 2024.
