K-drama stars Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo are set to star together in an upcoming Netflix historical drama series titled “Slowly but Intensely.”

According to a report by Soompi on Monday, a representative of the drama revealed that filming officially commenced on January 12.

“Set in the 1960s and 1970s, the drama depicts the realistic scenes of people in the broadcasting industry, delving into the lives of stars on stage and the people behind the scenes who create those stars,” read the series’ synopsis.

This project marks the third collaboration between Song Hye Kyo and its writer, Noh Hee Kyung, following the 2008 drama Worlds Within and the 2013 hit That Winter, The Wind Blows.

Fans are eager to see the actress, fresh off her critically acclaimed performance in Netflix revenge series The Glory, as she recently unveiled her short haircut for her role.

Meanwhile, Gong Yoo is also reuniting with director Lee Yoon Jung, with whom he worked on the iconic 2007 rom-com show Coffee Prince.

Slowly but Intensely is reportedly slated for a 22-episode run to be released on Netflix, with filming expected to wrap in the first half of this year.
