Actress-vlogger Riva Quenery has confirmed her breakup with her long-time boyfriend Vern Ong, announcing that they had already ended their five-year relationship a few months ago.
The announcement was made through posts on their respective social media accounts on Monday, where the former couple reflected on their relationship and expressed gratitude for the time they shared.
In her Instagram post, Quenery revealed that the breakup happened months ago but stressed their continued commitment to co-parenting their daughter, Athena.
“With 2024 coming to a close, we’ve been thinking a lot about new beginnings,” their post began.
“We want to take a moment to address our relationship status. As many of you may have noticed, we are no longer together. We broke up a few months ago,” the ex-couple revealed.
The two emphasized their commitment to co-parenting their daughter, Athena, and making decisions in her best interest while maintaining privacy about their struggles.
“However, we remain on good terms and continue to co-parent Athena. We understand that this news may come as a surprise since we’ve always kept our struggles private, even from close friends.
“We don’t want Athena to grow up in a toxic environment. Every decision we make is for her, so no one has the right to say that we don’t consider her well-being,” she added.
They also addressed rumors surrounding their separation, firmly denying the involvement of third parties.
“We loved each other deeply and genuinely believed we were destined to marry, but parting ways is essential for both of us to grow.
We’ve never had any third-party issues, so we’d appreciate it if those spreading false info could just stop,” she explained.
The pair extended their gratitude to their fans, particularly the “RiVern” supporters, who followed their journey over the years.
“We also want to take a moment to thank all our RiVern fans for the support over the past 5 years. We can’t thank you enough for being with us every step of the way. There are no goodbyes, because at the end of the day, we will always be Athena’s parents and will continue to love & support her,” she concluded.
In a separate Instagram story, Riva expressed her appreciation for Vern, calling him her “best friend” and reflecting on the lessons learned during their relationship.
“Thank you, Vern. Thank you for the five beautiful years. While things didn’t turn out as we hoped, I still want you to know how much I appreciate the good moments we shared. I’ve learned so much from our time together, and for that, I am grateful. I will always care for you,” she penned to her ex-boyfriend.
“You were my best friend, and I have never loved anyone like you. Always remember that I’m rooting for you, no matter where life takes us.
Thank you for being such a beautiful part of my story. I will carry those memories with me forever. You’ll always have a place in my
heart.”
Vern echoed her sentiments, thanking Riva for the love and growth they experienced together in his own Instagram story which was accompanied by their photos together.
“To my only girlfriend, thank you for changing me and making me a better person, a better son, sibling, partner, and most importantly, a better father. I will always love you, and that will never change. My love for you only grew deeper when you became the amazing mother of our Athena,” he wrote.
Ong also pledged to remain a dedicated father to Athena, writing, “I know I wasn’t perfect as a partner, but I promise to be as close to a perfect father as I can for Athena.”
He continued, “I have no regrets about chasing you, even during those moments when you wanted to walk away. You gave me five unforgettable years, and l’m endlessly grateful for them.”
Despite the split, Vern emphasized their mutual respect and care for one another.
“There was a time when every part of me belonged to you, and you were the only person I dreamed of growing old with. Although we’re going our separate ways now, I wish you nothing but the best. Life will never be the same without you, but l’ll always cherish what we had,” his message to Quenery concluded.
Riva and Vern went public with their relationship in 2018. They pair announced their pregnancy in May 2021 and welcomed their child in October 2021.
