The MTRCB urged operators that only “G” (General Patronage) and “PG” (Parental Guidance) rated content can be shown in public utility vehicles (PUVs) amid travels during holiday season.
The policy, mandated under MTRCB Memorandum Circular No. 09-2011, aims to ensure content remains appropriate for passengers, particularly children.
Chapter 3, Section 1-3 of the memorandum states that public vehicles showing movies must follow the same rules as movie theaters to ensure the content is safe and appropriate for children and families during travel.
MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto-Antonio underlined the agency’s dedication to ensuring safe and enjoyable travel experiences by regulating content in PUVs.
“Our commitment is to ensure that the content shown in PUVs is safe for all passengers, especially children traveling with their families. This is part of our larger responsibility to provide a safe, secure and enjoyable travel experience for everyone,” Sotto-Antonio said in a press statement.
The agency also encourages PUV operators to follow the guidelines strictly; and passengers to report violations through MTRCB’s social media (@MTRCBGov) or email ([email protected]).
Violators may face legal consequences under Presidential Decree 1986 and Chapter XIII of the 2004 Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations.
