GMA Network Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdez addressed questions regarding the future of some of the network’s programs for 2025, including the renewal of the popular noontime show It’s Showtime.
During an interview with Pilipino Star Ngayon at the “Konsyerto sa Palasyo” event recently held at Malacañang, Gozon-Valdez confirmed that the Kapamilya noontime program is likely to remain on the Kapuso Network.
“May hinintay kaming data kaya natagalan kami bumalik sa kanila. Siguro mga 95 percent, ano na yan. Wala namang problema kasi e. Konting pag-uusap lang,” she said, emphasizing that discussions are moving positively and smoothly.
She reiterated GMA’s desire to keep It’s Showtime on board. However, she clarified why the network’s own noontime program, TiktoClock, entered the conversation.
“As of now kasi, ang priority is to retain Showtime. Basta magkaayos lang ‘di ba? Dun sa terms, and siguro parang ano…ang TiktoClock kasi ganun lang yung format kaya naiisip na puwede siyang pumalit just in case biglang mangyari…bigla na lang later on ayaw na ng Showtime sa GMA, at least meron na kaming puwedeng ilagay,” she explained.
Gozon-Valdez further noted that while there are ongoing discussions on financial terms, there are no issues regarding the program’s ratings.
“Wala silang utang,” she clarified. “Sa ratings, wala kaming problema. Ang taas-taas ng ratings ng Showtime. Yung ibang bagay, mas tungkol sa finances.”
In addition to It’s Showtime, Gozon-Valdez was also asked about the reported return of TAPE, Inc. to GMA 7, along with rumors have been about a possible new program from the production company.
According to Gozon-Valdez, TAPE, Inc. has reached out formally to GMA. However, the network is prioritizing financial discussions before any concrete plans are made.
“Meron silang letter. Kaya lang inuuna muna namin yung discussions nila with our finance team before we entertain. Ang sabi kasi, mag-uusap muna ang finances before kami mag-meeting,” she said.
It’s Showtime first officially aired in the Kapuso network after ABS-CBN and GMA executives sealed the monumental collaboration last March.
The Kapamilya show replaced the slot of now-defunct noontime program “Tahanang Pinakamasaya”.
