Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings dominated Google search trends in the Philippines on Wednesday, Decembe 4 following an explosive social media post by the actor’s non-showbiz ex-girlfriend Jamela Villanueva.
Jamela also reflected on her seven-year relationship with Anthony, expressing the “deeply painful”
The surge in searches began after Jamela shared screenshots exposing Maris and Anthony’s alleged infidelity in their private messages via Instagram stories at midnight.
This has since become a hot topic on social media, prompting Maris’ search term peaking at 100 – the highest interest in the Philippines at that time and remained high throughout the morning of December 4. Jennings also saw a notable spike at 75.
The Maris-Anthony also outpaced other major news stories such as the abrupt declaration of martial law in South Korea which broke out around the same time.
Meanwhile, Maris, who has yet to comment on the issue, has now disabled the comments section on her Instagram, amid the backlash online.
Maris and Anthony, also known as the tandem, MaThon rose to popularity after their successful pairing in the 2023 series “Can’t Buy Me Love.” They are set to star in the upcoming action-drama series “Incognito.”
