BINI becomes first Filipino group to win 2024 MTV EMAs ‘Best Asia Act’

“Nation’s Girl Group” BINI marked another milestone by becoming the first-ever Filipino recipient of the “Best Asia Act” award at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs).

Aired live from Manchester, United Kingdom on Sunday, the P-pop sensation competed against notable Asian acts, including South Korea’s Illit, Indonesia’s Mahalini, Malaysia’s Masdo, and Japan’s Sakurazaka46.

BINI is the first Filipino group to receive the prestigious Best Asia Act award. Previous nominees in this category included Moira Dela Torre (2023), Maymay Entrata (2022), and Sarah Geronimo (2014).

In a video message shared on MTV Asia’s X account, BINI’s leader, Jhoanna, expressed the group’s gratitude, saying, “We’re so thankful for winning the Best Asia Act in this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards.”

Fellow member Mikha added, “We hope we can keep sharing our music with you and that the world can discover more of Filipino music.”

On BINI’s official X page, the octet also shared a heartfelt message with their fans, which read, “This honor means the world to us, seeing Filipino music shine on the global stage. Maraming salamat po!”

This historic recognition for BINI arrives just days before their much-anticipated “Grand BINIverse” concert, set to take place over three days at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
