BLACKPINK member Jennie’s agency says ‘Rubies’ not yet official fandom name

-

BLACKPINK’s Jennie and her agency, OA Entertainment, have cleared up recent confusion surrounding the artist’s fandom name.

According to Soompi’s report, the issue began after Jennie released a short voice message through her agency’s official website, where she greeted her fans by saying, “Hi, Rubies! It’s Jennie. Stay tuned, and see you soon. Love you. Bye!”

Fans quickly latched onto the term Rubies, speculating that it might be Jennie’s official fandom name.

However, this sparked confusion and further discussions about its similarity with the fandom name “RUBI,” which belongs to another K-pop singer, Kwon Eun Bi, raising concerns about potential overlaps in fandom names.

In response, OA Entertainment issued a clarification, which Soompi translated in the same report, “Jennie was just using the term ‘Rubies’ to address her fans in a news update, and this was not an official announcement of her fandom name.”

It is worth noting that the K-pop star previously registered a trademark for “Jennie Ruby Jane,” which is her full name in English.

Meanwhile, Jennie is set to make another solo comeback after signing a deal with American record label Columbia Records.

Her agency confirmed the partnership with the American label in early September and announced that she will also release a new single in October, her first solo project since “You & Me.”

The Korean idol has also launched her personal community on HYBE’s global superfan platform, Weverse.

Jennie, who’s the first Blackpink member to have her solo community on Weverse, shared in a statement: “I’m incredibly grateful for my fans’ support and look forward to making many joyful memories together on Weverse soon.”
