Sa programa na “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” inilahad ni Maria ang kanyang journey sa pagpunta sa Pilipinas.
Kwento niya, una siyang in-invite ng kanyang friends na bumisita sa Pilipinas.

“This is my 10th year here in the Philippines. Maybe 2014, end of 2014, I had [Filipino] friends visiting Japan… and they were saying, ‘Why don’t you visit the Philippines?’ I’ve been to Cebu only one time, and Manila, I haven’t been here,” kwento niya.
“And they were like, ‘Oh! You’re famous! [in the Philippines]’ And I was like, ‘Really?! I haven’t been to the Philippines and I’m famous?’” dagdag pa nito.
“And they were just, ’Just give it a go. Just come for like visiting, go to the beach and see how you like the culture and the people,'” pagpapatuloy pa niya.
Ayon sa kanya, matapos siyang i-invite ng kanyang friends ay nag-decide na siya na pumunta sa Pilipinas.
“And so I did, [the] following year, and I loved it,” pahayag niya.
“The hospitality here is great. The food is good and the weather is nice,” dagdag pa nito.
Matatandaaan na kasalukuyang ginaganapan ni Maria ang role bilang si Haruka Tanaka sa nasabing series.
