Filipino TV and online personalities expressed their concern as Typhoon Carina continued to devastate various parts of the country with heavy rains and flooding.
On Wednesday afternoon, Metro Manila was declared under a state of calamity due to the combined effects of Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon.
According to a report by The Philippine STAR, Typhoon Carina is intensifying the southwest monsoon, causing moderate to heavy rainfall in various parts of the country today.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said the southwest monsoon has brought moderate to heavy rains over different provinces in the country since July 11, enhanced by Typhoons Butchoy and Carina.
The powerful storm has already led to the cancellation of several flights, the suspension of classes and office work, and severe traffic jams due to extensive flooding.
Local authorities and relief organizations have been working tirelessly to provide aid and support to those in need, as the nation braces for further challenges in the wake of this natural disaster.
Amid the chaos, several celebrities have taken to social media to share their personal experiences during the storm and to express their concern for those affected.
Food content creator Ninong Ry’s home in Malabon was not spared from the flooding caused by Typhoon Carina’s relentless rain.
He shared the state of his house on social media while still managing to joke about the situation despite the hardship.
On Facebook, Ninong Ry even humorously captioned a post about Malabon residents no longer being affected by floods.
“Balita ko di na kayo binahaba sa Malabon ah? Kami na tiga Malabon,” his caption read, along with photos his flooded home.
He also posted a Reel on Instagram showing him moving his motorcycle to higher ground while wearing pajamas, joking that he was giving it a “carwash” and promoting a fictional business called “Boy Baha Underwash Cleaning Services”.
“Carwash lang, medyo madumi eh,” the celebrity chef remarked.
Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson was spotted personally extending his helping hand to stranded victims, as seen in a video uploaded on X.
A netizen uploaded a video of the actor braving the floodwater as he talked out a crying child before carrying her out of a submerged house in Quezon City.
TV personalities Alex Gonzaga, Kim Chiu, and Marjorie Barretto hoped for people’s safety as they shared updates on their social media pages showing the current situation of the weather within their vicinity.
Meanwhile, Heart Evangelista, wife of incumbent Senate president Chiz Escudero, expressed how she felt “bad” for the people who still managed to make it to her scheduled shoot amidst the inclement weather.
She also shared a photo of the crew who were captured braving a seemingly flooded set, accompanied by a somber caption, “Paano na.”
Pinay singer Katrina Velarde also noted on her Instagram story about the cancellation of her flight in Ilocos Sur, where she was supposed to do a show, due to the bad weather.
State weather forecasters have previously reported that 100 to 200 millimeters of rainfall were forecasted over the said province.
Pharmacist and content creator Arshie Larga, known for sharing medical and healthcare information online, shared an informative video about leptospirosis, a bacterial disease that is transmitted through contact with water contaminated by the urine of infected animals, such as rodents, dogs, or livestock.
The risk of leptospirosis increases during floods due to exposure to contaminated water.

Actress-host Anne Curtis-Smith raised awareness over one of the main causes of flooding in the country.
The celebrity fur mom also urged her fellow fur parents to include their pets in their evacuation plans.

Likewise, fellow female celebrities Janella Salvador, Kira Balinger, and Denise Julia, also reposted reminders from local animal organizations on helping homeless and stray animals during calamities.
Actress-singer Alexa Ilacad also voiced her concern and raised awareness towards pet owners to take responsibility, provide shelters, or at least give animals a “fighting chance” by freeing them from their chains, leashes, or cages, amidst the worsening floods.
Online personality Sassa Gurl sent out a caring yet hilarious message reminding netizens to stay safe amidst the heavy rains and floodings brought on by the typhoon.
“Ingat kayo mga ‘nak ah? Nakakatakot! Wala munang gagala,” Sassa Gurl advised on her TikTok video.
Their heartfelt messages and calls for solidarity as the widespread impact of Typhoon Carina continues to wreak havoc on the Filipino community.
According to STAR, Typhoon Carina is expected to make landfall in northern Taiwan later today, either in the afternoon or early evening. It is forecasted to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
