Kapamilya love team Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings revealed that they already felt undeniable chemistry from the very beginning of their time working together.
In an episode of the Netflix social series “Bida/Bida,” Maris and Anthony opened up about how they quickly realized they were a “perfect pair” after just a few scenes together.
“Feeling ko, after namin ma-shoot ‘yung mga first few scenes namin together,” Maris answered when Kapuso star Barbie Forteza asked when they realized they were perfect together.
Anthony added, “Alam ko doon sa binuhat kita eh,” referring to a scene in their hit series “Can’t Buy Me Love.”
Maris agreed to this, saying, “Oo, parang… there’s something.”
Maris and Anthony rose to popularity in Can’t Buy Me Love where they played the roles of Irene and Snoop, forming the tandem, “SnoRene”. Their chemistry was immediately appreciated by fans, leading to brand deals and advertisements together.
When asked if they discussed their love team’s popularity during filming, the two shared that they didn’t have much opportunity.
“Parang hindi masyado,” Anthony said.
Maris explained that their filming schedule was ahead of the show’s airing, so they didn’t know how people would react.
“Honestly, kasi we’re way ahead sa kung ano ‘yung ine-air eh. We didn’t know kung ano ‘yung magiging reaction ng mga tao,” Maris explained.
The two also shared that they didn’t anticipate the impact of their scenes together.
Once their popularity grew, that is when MaThon discovered the “kilig factor” in their pairing.
“Parang doon ko narealize na, ‘Oh my gosh, mayroon nga talaga kaming something,” Maris revealed.
Anthony added, “Parang doon ko naramdaman na may kilig kami, pag kinilig ka sa eksena.”
Given that their characters started like “cat and dog,” Maris felt the spark when the love story of Irene and Snoop began to unfold.
She shared, “Yung first scene na sweet sa isa’t isa, parang ‘oh my god’.”
In the same interview, Maris and Anthony mentioned that their love team is completely mature than their love teams before. They described their love team as “business partners.”
Maris and Anthony are also preparing to star in a new film directed by John Paul Laxamana.
Meanwhile, fans continue to express their excitement over MaThon.
One fan commented, “Iba ung star quality and presence nila Maris at Anthony. Ang lakas ng dating.”
On the other hand, Maris recently confirmed her split with her longtime boyfriend, Rico Blanco, ending their five-year relationship.
During the interview, the actress clarified that Anthony is “out of the picture” and in no way connected with the said break up, stressing that the matters of their separation are strictly about her and Rico.
