Kuya Kim, Pepe Herrera fall victim to death hoax on social media

-

Celebrities Kim Atienza and Pepe Herrera have become the latest victims of death hoaxes on social media.

Just days after news reporter “Kuya” Kim Atienza was falsely reported dead online, comedian Pepe Herrera found himself targeted by similar malicious rumors.

A TikTok account posing as his network GMA posted a black-and-white photo of him including a message that read: “MARAMING SALAMAT, Alejandro ‘Kim’ Iligan Atienza, JANUARY 24, 1967 – June 3, 2024.”

It also came with the caption “Until again brother Kim.”

The TV host took to social media to debunk the false announcement of his “death”.

“Aabot din tayo diyan, but not today,” Atienza wrote in his post.

“Welcome to the club, brod! ‘Until again,’” commented comedian Michael V., who had also been involved in fake death news in the past.

Following this, Pepe was the next victim. In response, the actor took to his Facebook page to assure the public that he is very much alive.

“Buhay na buhay po ako at tatanda hanggang 100 years old God Willing,” he clarified.

Pepe also left a message for those spreading false news about his death: “Sa gumawa nito, God Bless You and may the Lords of Karma guide you 🙏😊💚”
