‘Euphoria’ star Hunter Schafer arrested at pro-Palestine protest in NYC

-

“Euphoria” star Hunter Schafer was among pro-Palestine protesters arrested during a demonstration calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, according to American media reports.

The 25-year-old actress was confirmed to be one of the demonstrators who showed up ahead of US President Joe Biden’s appearance on the American talk show Late Night with Seth Meyers, PEOPLE reported.

The protest was reportedly led by Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) which took place at the 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.

“Hunter was arrested at the protest, along with 50 other people,” PEOPLE quoted a JVP spokesperson’s statement, “We commend her commitment to Palestinian freedom and to a future of justice for everyone.”

In photos uploaded by the organization on its social media pages, Schafer could be seen wearing a black shirt that said “CEASE FIRE NOW”, while being escorted by the police with her hands restrained behind her back.

Other photos showed the actress holding a banner along with other protesters that read “The whole world is watching”, while in another, she was wearing a mask in front of a different banner that read: “Jews to Biden: Stop Arming Genocide.”

Schafer also appeared in a video where she can be heard chanting “no more genocide”, “ceasefire” and “no more weapons, no more war” together with a group of protesters.

Armed conflict between Israel and Palestine broke out after Hamas launched an unprecedented October 7 attack that killed 1,160 people in Israel, mostly civilians, Philippine Star reported Agence France-Presse’s (AFP) tally of official figures.

Several protests continue to be held in different parts of the globe as the death toll in Gaza neared 30,000, according to the Hamas-run health ministry there, causing international pressure on the United States to rein in ally Israel and call for a ceasefire.

A shocking protest acted by a US airman recently made headlines worldwide when he set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington in protest over the war in Gaza, STAR reported.
